Electric cars are not the perfect energy solution that Progressives want you to believe:
* Although they are greener on the road than conventional vehicles, much of their power still comes from coal.
* Their lithium-ion batteries are made of relatively rare metals and minerals which are often sourced using environmentally-invasive mining techniques.
* There is no infrastructure to efficiently recycle the 2,000 pound batteries of electric cars. They cannot go into landfills because they contain toxic chemicals.
Our government and the private sector need to address these, and many other issues, before making a long-term commitment or investment in electric vehicles.
